Review: (YAY) ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer in Sheer + (NAH) ELF Eyelid Primer in Sheer

 

Finally I'm talking about these ELF eyelid primers! I used both of these a while back and I guess it's only right to give my thoughts on these.

 

I started out using the ELF Essentials Eyelid Primer. It has a sheer hint of coverage on my lids. The main problem I have with this is that it stung my eyes slightly whenever I applied it on my lids.

 

I moved on to try the ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. Again, it has the same sheer hint of coverage on my lids which I am pretty happy about as it can even out the skin tone on my lids. I really like the mineral one better as it does not irritate my eyes like the essential one.

 

Both are slightly drying. It was acceptable for me since both works in holding my eye makeup and last longer at such affordable prices.

 

If you do not have sensitive eyes, I think the 1USD primer is good enough to try as both works pretty much the same. Of course, do keep in mind if you are looking for ones with excellent quality, these are not for you.

(NAH) Review: NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone

 

 

The shade of NYX Eyeshadow Base is a shade darker than my skin tone (I'm ZA 20-21). After blending properly on my lids, it does not affect the colours of my eyeshadow much. Furthermore, this base is able to even out the skin tone on my lids. It definitely made my eyeshadows more vibrant in colour.

 

However, do only use this when you are applying powder eyeshadows. It's disastrous if you attempt to put cream shadows over this base; it will crease and smudge as both products makes your lids oiler.

 

I don't care about this product as I think it limits me. Primers allows me to put both cream and powder eyeshadows. Primers also helps to hold my makeup better and lasts longer. If you want affordable primer, I would even suggest ELF primers or my favourite VS eyeshadow primer.

(YAY) Review: Victoria's Secret VS Pro Lasting Fx Eye Shadow Primer

 

I know there are makeup babes out there who swear by Too Faced Shadow Insurance or Urban Decay Primer Potion. I did try those out too. But if you are looking for something way more affordable and works almost the same as those two high-end products, here's VS Pro Lasting Fx Eye Shadow Primer for you. VS currently offers this in a new packaging.

 

It has a nude skintone shade to it and a 'greasy' feel when I first squeeze it out of the tube. However, the 'greasiness' is what helps me blend perfectly on my eyelids and it does not feel greasy at all after blending. It just felt smooth and not drying on your lids. I felt that the ELF primer, both normal and the mineral kind are drying on my lids. This applies sheer and kinda helps even the skin tone on my lids.

 

What's more is that it's about half the price of my Sephora eye primers and performed as well as those two. I was so happy with it, I went to get another backup of it.
